A Year Later, A New Me –Thanks to HcG!
I can’t believe that it’s been a year since I started my HcG diet. And today I weighed in, STILL, at 50 pounds less than my after-binge highest. I have not updated here in a while, so you’ve only seen the beginning. Now, I have the pleasure of posting these before and after (and still, 6 months since reaching my goal) photos:
The week before I started HcG, we went on a weekend cruise. I just didn’t see the weight creeping on. Even my sexy web-woman costume couldn’t hide the blob that I had become.
Flash forward a year –
I still can’t belive this is me!
I’ve been searching, but there are far fewer photos of me from last year than there are now. Here’s me showing some skin:
So what can I say but HcG works! And quite possibly it really does have permanent results. Just stick to the program and you too will see success!

Congrats! You look Great. So proud of you! Thanks for sharing, I am on my first 23 days and I am already down 17 lbs. Any tips?
Sorry, Jackie, I just saw your note. It’s now almost 3 weeks later, and you should be on maintenance, right? My best tip == be really really good on maintenance, and you will probably NEVER get your appetite back! Good luck! Keep us posted!
Congratulations on your weight loss. Came across your site while surfing for hcG info.
I have been on an hcG diet for a month now. I’ve lost 28 lbs. (I am a 51 y/o male who was 100 lbs at my worst.)
Being an Engineer, I approached this with some skepticism since there are a more than a few scam-spas that administer hcG shots with dubious results.
My family doctor supervises my program. The program is a very low calorie diet made possible with an appetite suppressant prescription and daily self-administrated hcG shots. I inject the hcG into fat, not intravenously.
Is that the same as your program?
Obviously, the appetite suppressant and the low cal diet, combined with regular exercise are the main source of the weight loss. But, what is remarkable is that the hcG is acting exactly as my Doctor predicted.
It is supposed to signal the brain to consume fat not muscle. I check my fat % regularly with a hand-held electronic gauge and it has consistently shown no muscle loss, and in fact, I have gained about 8 lbs in muscle. My belly fat has become “ mushy” as it breaks down.
I complained about the fact that there is little clinical research to either validate or refute hcG as a weight loss aid. The few studies mentioned on the web resulted in either inconclusive results or showed no significant differences. However, my son, a third-year Biology student at USF, did some digging and found some serious studies that did show hcG to be effective.
It’s hard to do a study on diets, since the researchers would have to control the eating and exercise of all of the subjects for an extended period of time—that’s not usually in the funding.
But, as for me, I have to say that it appears to be working as predicted. I have lost over 50lbs altogether (I practiced diet and exercise before I started with hcG treatment).
I will be down to my ideal weight in a few months.
Congratulations again and you look great.
Will, Tampa FL.
Great work, Will, and thanks for all the info and research. Keep us posted!
You look great. Thanks for being brave and posting these pics. You are a true inspiration. How are you doing now? Will you please post some more “after” pics.
I am hungry all the time. I’m not sure if that’s right but I have only 9 more days to go and I”ve done this round for 30 so far. I want to do another round after the holidays. Still researching drops vs. injections. Which did you do?
Hey Lisa — Good for you. I too find myself hungry, especially after the first round, but just drinking more water and lots of tea.
So I’m approaching two years, and still a perfect size ten, so I’m happy, but I’ve got to admit, keeping the weight off is not as easy as it felt at the beginning. But I love how I look so I stick with it. The way I eat is completely different. I no longer crave or eat bread unless it’s super delicious and special. I can eat one cookie instead of a whole box. If I feel like pigging out, I’ll eat two. I make better choices. And I always remember that nothing tastes as good as being thin feels.
I have done drops and shots, and I prefer the shots. They feel stronger and only has to be done once a day. But it all works. Keep up the good work! I will post more pictures soon. Thanks! Robin
I started my HCG Diet 11 days ago and am doing great. I have lost 23 lbs so far. i love your blog
Thanks so much! I love sharing with other people who have succeeded on the diet. Good for you!
Hey:
I lost weight on the program but maintenance is not going well. I gained three pounds in one day and the steak day only lost 1 pound. I am worried. Have I lost all this weight only to put it all back on?
Hi Elena — Gee, I hope I caught you before you’ve given up! And I hope you didn’t work so hard just to gain it back. So if you’ve been eating, stop now! But seriously, here’s a few things to look at. First, If you’re gaining weight on maintenance, you’re either eating too much or eating something you shouldn’t be. No starch and no sugar means just that, but for the first three weeks after the HcG you need to be extra strict with yourself. The no carb diet is designed to make you fuller faster and longer. I like to start the day with a big egg, cheese and bacon omelette with some melon or berries. Lunch should still be a salad or vegetable with protein, and dinner as well. During those three weeks I don’t eat melba toast or breadsticks or starchy veggies like peas or beans the first few weeks, and melon or berries are the best fruits. Continue to drink lots of water and tea. After three weeks you should be back to where you were when you finished the hcg, more or less.
Second, are you exercising? Now you can and should go back to it. Walking 45 minutes a day is really important, and you can start doing a little weight-bearing stuff if you like that. Whatever you do, keep active — and away from the kitchen. I find that water or tea often helps, as when we think we’re hungry we’re really just thirsty.
Finally — and here’s the hard part — you cannot go back to your old way of eating and expect to stay thin. The original doctor that I went to told me that he ate “whatever he wanted” after his HcG, but he was not a real eater to begin with. He was slim and got slimmer. In the real world of people like you and me who love to eat, it’s a lifelong journey.
So stick with it, and maybe you want to join a diet group or Overeaters Anonymous so you can learn and practice healthy eating. Buy a book or look online for tips and tricks and recipes that keep you slim, strong and healthy. Get rid of your “fat clothes” , buy a few new pieces that show off your new bod, and, if the weight starts to come back on, do another short round of HcG to catch it before it all comes back.
Good luck, and keep us posted!
Best,
Robin
Hey Robin,
I live in Fort Lauderdale and am about to start this program. Do you have any suggestions and/or pointers to help me in the journey I’m about to take? I’m actually going through a clinic and using a coach to help me; at least through this first round. Ultimately I hope to lose over 75 pounds. Any and all suggestions would be welcome! I will definately document my journey; probably every day!
I want to respond to Elena. I’ve been on the diet 30 days now and have lost 21 pounds. But it hasn’t been easy, and I’m gearing up for maintanence. But during this journey I’m finding that my Christian faith is helping me so much with cravings, especially when I’m around people who are eating lots of yummy food. I had a tough moment that turned out wonderfully; we had company and everyone was eating this great food, and I was “slaving” over my George Forman, grilling a scant bit of limp shrimp, which I had on dry, green lettuce. (I don’t like the Stevia products for salads and things, so I stick with “boring,” but now with a smile.) Anyway, as my eyes were glued to the grill instead of the people chowing down, I cried out to God in my heart and asked Him to help me get through the meal without being miserable. And He touched my heart by letting me know to focus on the people (and Him), and not on the food. Since then I haven’t had a problem. I’m sure there are similar dificulties ahead, but that’s when I’ll have to lean on Jesus (Yeshua in Hebrew) again. If this comment at all resonates with you, may I suggest the book, Made to Crave by Lysa Terkeurst. It brings the “dieter” or “maintainer” on a
healthy-weight journey from a spiritual perspective. It’s filled with Biblical principles and Scripture.
Laura, thank you for your heartfelt response to Elena. I say we use all the tools we have and take all the blessings we can get! Let’s hope to hear back from Elena. And how are you doing?
You look wonderful! Thanks 4 ur blog and the videos
And thanks to you for your nice comment! Going public keeps me honest (usually)!
